Job Title: Systems Engineer Technology Transition
Job Location: Washington, D.C. or Lemont Furnace, PA
Position Summary
Responsible for leading the transfer and transition of design, manufacturing, integration, test, quality, infrastructure, and sustainment information, knowledge, capabilities, and responsibilities from overseas Thales locations and suppliers to AAC and US based suppliers to meet US and FMS customer requirements. Lead the transfer of knowledge and technology for multiple product lines, ensuring completion of activities on time and budget.
Primary and Essential Accountabilities
- Involved with the analysis, design, development and implementation of new, modified, and/or existing systems/sub-systems
- May include Architectural Design, Requirements Engineering, or others. Determine system specifications
- Lead transition of knowledge and technology planning, engineering, manufacturing, quality and sustainment interactions with overseas Thales locations and suppliers
- Support transition and acquisition of hardware and software (or subcontractor services as needed)
- Responsible for leading group of engineers on a technical transition activities and completion of activities on time and budget
- Design, develop, analyze, modify, document and support testing of products, systems or subsystems
- Design, develop, analyze, modify, document and support requirements for critical infrastructure requirements such as facilities, capital expenditures, personnel, training, and suppliers
- May use computer-aided engineering or other design/analysis software in the performance of assignments
- Review customer specifications and requirements, and under direction, develop designs to best support them, including cost as a key design variable
- Provide budget, cost and schedule input for technology transition assignments
- Specify and evaluate supplier components, subsystems and services
- Drive the transition program design to cost and design for manufacture requirements
- Communicate clearly (written and oral) with other Thales, internal company personnel and the customer as required
- Participate in preparation of proposals
- Provide technical knowledge and assistance to other engineers and support personnel
- Lead and direct the work of others as assigned
- Support, communicate, reinforce and defend the mission, values and culture of the organization
Secondary Accountabilities
- Attend appropriate engineering, customer or business meetings
- Lead less-experienced engineers
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical field
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant/applicable experience
- Fluency in technologies and application domain
- Ability to lead a technical group independently
Additional Desirable Qualifications, Skills, and Knowledge
- Mechanical integration experience
- Winch and handling systems experience
- Navy INCO/SHIPALT – Navy Installation and Ship Alteration experience
- Production Support experience
Physical Requirements
- Lifting (up to 20 lbs.): up to 10% of time
- Walking: up to 25% of time
- Climbing, Bending, Standing, Stooping: up to 10% of time
- Sitting: up to 75% of time
- Travel: up to 10% of time
AAC works on a 9/80 compressed work schedule whereby employees work 80 hours in 2 weeks with every other Friday off.
