Job Summary

Manage planners to execute all Defense Programs’ manufacturing orders and purchasing within budget and on schedule.

Job Responsibilities

  • Create the Master Production Schedule (MPS) for all Defense Programs based on production capacity requirements, materials availability, and contractual requirements: negotiated/awarded costs and schedules
  • Obtain MPS agreement from Defense Leadership including Engineering, Finance, Operations, and Program Management; commonly referred to as the Engineering Program Management Office (EPMO). Note: MPS must support formally approved IMS and resulting EACs.
  • Consolidate across programs where possible to obtain financial efficiencies
  • Assign planners to all programs and sub-schedules within the MPS.
  • Ensure accurate cost targets are assigned to purchasing and cost targets are traceable to program budgets
  • Ensure accurate cycle time and touch time targets are assigned to operations and traceable to program IMS.
  • Oversee the day-to-day activities of the planners within the department aligned to MPS
  • Adjudicate conflicts, deconflict priorities, and negotiate reschedules as appropriate working closely with EPMO.
  • Create, analyze, and vet data/metrics to provide status to stakeholders, and escalate issues to decision authority.
  • Provide potential mitigations or solutions to decision authority with all risk and issue escalations.
  • Ensure accurate cost estimates for labor and materials on production proposals, which may include Certified Pricing
  • Write, maintain, and enforce company and department policies and procedures for agile and compliant execution
  • Communicate and clarify departmental goals and metrics: proposals, revenue schedules, and profit generation
  • Improve current system, functions, and daily operations to more effectively meet goals
  • Recruit, develop and train staff members, ensuring team skills are maintaining pace with performance expectations
  • Execute all managerial responsibilities: sign timecards, performance reviews, personnel 1-1s, and etc.
  • Support, communicate and defend the mission, values and culture of the company

 

Job Responsibilities Part II

  • Execute assigned programs as individual contributor when necessary.
  • Initiate all required cost point transactions to execute assigned program within MPS
  • Monitor material flow from purchasing to ship identifying and removing hurdles or inefficiencies
  • Status schedule and financial health of program formally during EAC meetings: IMS deep dives, Status, and PMRs
  • May take a larger ownership of program IMS
  • May need to physically identify inventory and move material
  • May need to execute Purchase Orders as Buyer or Account Manager including vendor communication

Qualifications

  • Hold a secret security clearance or eligible to obtain
  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, business, engineering or equivalent experience. A minimum of 5 years demonstrated experience in high technology, aerospace or defense
  • Demonstrated knowledge of supply chain management tools and procedures
  • Demonstrated management skills, particularly “influence management” and “conflict resolution”
  • Experience throughout the product lifecycle from New Product Introduction through obsolescence to include:  generation of system and subsystem statements of work and subcontracts, strategic supplier selection, risk management, and continuous improvement efforts including implementation for cost reduction and performance improvement efforts
  • Experience in finance, contracting, export regulations, engineering, logistics, manufacturing and DoD, ITAR, EAR, FAR, DFAR regulations
  • Strong customer interface skills
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills
  • Demonstrated success in managing manpower planning, program reviews, scheduling and budget control
  • Must have a successful track record in managing complex aerospace/defense supply chain activities
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills

 

The expected pay scale for this position is $104,297/year - $140,769/year. Should the level, location, or scope of the position change during the hiring process, the pay scale may be modified accordingly. When extending an offer of employment, DRS Daylight Solutions considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position; any Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, the candidate’s relevant work experience, education/training, certifications, and key skills; internal equity; and market and business considerations.
