Position Summary: 
As a successful Facilities Director at Daylight, you will manage a team of 4 (Facilities/EHS) staff. The Facilities Director will oversee the maintenance and repair of company buildings, equipment, machinery, and grounds. Responsible for budgets and project plans for San Diego, CA and Madison, WI facilities.


Job Responsibilities

 Oversee the maintenance and repair of company buildings, equipment, machinery, and grounds 
•    Plan, schedule, and direct staff of in-house employees and external contractors in the maintenance of company buildings, equipment, machinery and grounds 

•    Develop and maintain an operating budget to ensure that such maintenance is carried out on a cost-effective basis 
•     Ensure facilities remain operational 
•    Oversee the regular maintenance of heating, ventilating, air conditioning, and other equipment 
•    Develop a comprehensive annual inspection process for equipment, machinery and facilities 
•    Oversee and direct all building renovations. Ensure renovations occur within budgeted levels and conform to company specifications. Obtain and prepare cost estimates; coordinate all construction, remodeling, and repair projects; and inspect completed work 
•    Manage insurance and service contract requirements and associated vendors 
•    Ensure that space-management and project-tracking documentation is accurate and up-to-date to facilitate incorporation of new requirements and projects
•    Resolve and investigate all facility security related issues; develop incident report system 
•    Implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with facility security efforts 
•    Keep upper management apprised of any developments or problems that may interfere with production/processes or cause property loss 
•    Collaborate with other departments on problems concerning facilities 
•    Mentor staff by motivating and providing direction to help them achieve their goals and make a consistent effort to go above and beyond 
•    Establish, implement, and monitor methods and measures to ensure quality and low cost 
•    Provide compliance and consulting support to management 
•    Provide interface with governmental agencies and other sites to avoid reactions to law changes and compliance issues 
•    Develop and manage applicable Emergency Contingency Planning 
•    Support, communicate, reinforce, and defend the mission, values and culture of the organization

•    Assist management with special projects and assignments as requested 
•    Support business plans, acquisitions, mergers, and divestitures






•    Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field and a minimum of 10+ years of hands-on facilities management experience 
•    Prior industry experience with large scale capital projects and facility management of clean rooms, bio tech, pharma, or medical device company strongly desired
•    Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies
•    Knowledge and application of environmental, health and safety regulations and protocols
•    Working knowledge of processing equipment and related support equipment 
•    Working knowledge of electrical power systems as well as HVAC systems and controls 
•    Demonstrated project management skills and experience working with subcontractors 
•    Proven “hands-on” leadership and people skills 
•    Detail-oriented, time and cost conscious 
•    Comfortable dealing with ambiguity and continuing change in a fast paced and growing defense, bio-pharma or bio-tech company
•    Partner and collaborate with peers and counter parts in facilities, real estate, security, and EHS across all sites
•    Work closely with IT, HR, Finance/Accounting, and Supply Chain business partners 
•    Demonstrated skills in facility engineering
•    Must have strong computer skills (MS Office Suite, Excel, Process Maps, Autocad, Visio)
•    Active Security clearance is desired
•    Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance
