Job Summary

Manufacturing Engineers at Leonardo DRS are involved with the design, development, modification and analysis of manufacturing processing, products and devices that support power sytems on US Navy vessels. This engineer troubleshoots and diagnoses problems with existing processes or products and makes modifications and improvements as needed.  They compile and evaluate process or product design and test data and recommend design approaches to meet production requirements for new or improved products or processes.

Job Responsibilities

  • Apply basic engineering principles to perform routine design, fabrication, modification and/or evaluation in support of manufacturing operations 
  • May prepare plans, conduct support studies, provide analysis or tests in the development of manufacturing operations
  • Responsibilities are limited in scope
  • Follow standard practices/procedures in analyzing situations or data 
  • Support, communicate, reinforce and defend the mission, values and culture of the organization
  • Involved in the development of manufacturing process plans, test requirements, and manufacturing flow, and capacity plans.  
  • Review detail designs for manufacturability and producibility.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in an applicable engineering field with 2-5 years applicable engineering experience.
  • Ability to communicate ideas, both verbally and in writing.  Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Visio desired.
  • Experience reading wire schematics, technical drawings, and mechanical prints
  • Experience creating work instructions, routings, and instructions for assembly
  • Experience setting up efficient work cells for component assembly
  • Candidates must be a US citizen and meet DRS security standards as imposed by DoD, including the issuance of any necessary security clearance by the US government within a reasonable time after commencement of employment.

Physical Requirements

  • Position requires ability to perform work involving:  lifting, walking, climbing, bending, sitting, standing, stooping, and communicating both verbally and in written form.
  • Work performed in a climate-controlled, well-lit clean manufacturing and office area.
  • Occasionally lift and or move items up to 35 lbs.
