Job Summary

We are seeking a motivated Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist to support the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of our environmental, health, and safety programs. This role will help ensure compliance with applicable regulations, company policies, and customer requirements while promoting a strong culture of safety across operations.

 

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, eager to learn, and passionate about supporting a safe, compliant, and environmentally responsible workplace within a dynamic naval power manufacturing environment.

What You Will Do

  • Support daily administration of company EHS programs, policies, and procedures.
  • Assist with maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local environmental and occupational safety regulations.
  • Participate in workplace inspections, audits, and hazard assessments.
  • Help investigate incidents, near misses, and safety concerns, and assist in documenting findings and corrective actions.
  • Track and maintain EHS records, training documentation, permits, and reports.
  • Support employee EHS training and onboarding activities.
  • Assist with industrial hygiene, ergonomics, and environmental monitoring activities as needed.
  • Partner with supervisors, employees, and cross-functional teams to promote safe work practices.
  • Help identify opportunities for continuous improvement in EHS performance and awareness.
  • Support emergency preparedness activities and response planning.
  • Assist with waste management, hazardous material handling, and sustainability initiatives in accordance with company requirements.

Education & Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Health, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Internship, co-op, or academic project experience related to environmental, health, and safety.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills and an ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Willingness to work in a manufacturing, industrial, or shipboard-support environment.
  • Ability to learn and apply regulatory requirements and internal procedures.
  • Familiarity with OSHA, EPA, and other applicable regulatory frameworks.
  • Professional certifications or progress toward certifications such as OSHA 30, ASP, or CHST are a plus.
