The Leonardo DRS Naval Power Systems business is a trusted provider of innovative naval gas and hybrid power systems, control technology and support solutions for the U.S. Navy and navies around the world.

Job Summary

The Communications Coordinator is responsible for developing and implementing an internal communication strategy for the Naval Power Systems Business Unit. To succeed in this position, the person needs to be creative, proactive and a skilled writer who knows how to develop messages that will engage the workforce. 

Job Responsibilities

  • Support communications projects for advertising and promotional programs, public relations and trade shows, and Internet-based communications
  • Prepare materials for internal and external presentations and communication materials
  • Coordinate the distribution of internal and external communications
  • Work with the HR team on implementation of the Communication Strategy
  • Develop and distribute New Hire Announcements and other organizational messages
  • Design and administer employee surveys using SurveyMonkey and other software applications
  • Administer the NPS SharePoint sites

Job Responsibilities Part II

Qualifications

  • Assoicates degree in Communication or similar degree and 2 years of experience in internal marketing and communications
  • Bachelors degree in Communication of similar degree preferred.
  • Must be flexible and willing to move between projects and tasks quickly and as needed to ensure deadlines are met
  • Able to listen to others and work well as part of a team
  • Knowledge of office procedures and excellent writing and verbal skills
  • Experience with SharePoint and web design
