Job Summary

This Senior Product Engineer role leads the design, development, analysis, and test support of semiconductor products/devices and related manufacturing processes, with responsibility for troubleshooting issues, evaluating design and test data, and driving improvements to meet production requirements. The position applies statistical process methods such as Design of Experiments and SPC, uses engineering design/analysis tools, and develops prototypes to retire key technical risks while ensuring design-to-cost and design-for-manufacture objectives are met. The engineer will also provide technical leadership to a team—delivering work on time and within budget—while coordinating with suppliers, supporting proposal efforts, and communicating effectively with internal stakeholders and customers in alignment with organizational mission and values.

Job Responsibilities

  • Involved with the design, development, modification and analysis of semiconductor processing or semiconductor products/devices.  Troubleshoot and diagnose problems with existing processes or products and make modifications and improvements as needed.  Compile and evaluate process or product design and test data.  Evaluate and recommend design approaches to meet production requirements for new or improved products or processes.  Working knowledge of statistical techniques in process development such as Design of Experiments and SPC.
  • Responsible for leading group of engineers on a technical activity and completion of activity on time and budget
  • Design, develop, analyze, document and support testing of products, systems or subsystems 
  • May use computer-aided engineering or other design/analysis software in the performance of assignments.  Review customer specifications and requirements, and under direction, develop designs to best support them, including cost as a key design variable 
  • Provide budget, cost and schedule input for design assignments
  • Specify and evaluate supplier components, subsystems and services
  • Drive the program design to cost and design for manufacture requirements
  • Develop prototypes to retire key development risks
  • Communicate clearly (written and oral) with other company personnel and the customer as required
  • Participate in preparation of proposals
  • Provide technical knowledge and assistance to other engineers and support personnel
  • Lead and direct the work of others as assigned
  • Support, communicate, reinforce and defend the mission, values and culture of the organization
  • Attend appropriate engineering, customer or business meetings
  • Lead less-experienced engineers

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical field
  • A minimum of 5 years of direct experience
  • Fluency in technologies and application domain (electronics, troubleshooting, optical, infrared, etc.)
  • Ability to lead a technical group independently
     

U.S. Citizenship required. This position requires an active DOD security clearance or the ability to obtain such clearance within a reasonable time after commencement of employment.
