Job Summary

Outstanding opportunity to join the EOIS Quality team in Melbourne FL as a Senior Principal Supplier Quality Engineer!

Job Responsibilities

  • Responsible for designing quality improvement initiatives and processes across a line of business or commodity
  • Design, develop, analyze, document and support quality activities that drive continuous improvement across the organization
  • Mentor and coach other engineers
  • Responsible for establishing quality programs and for driving quality improvement initiatives internally and at suppliers
  • Design, develop, analyze, document and support quality programs such as Six Sigma/Lean, SPC, FMEA, Process Capability and AS9100 or ISO Quality Management systems
  • Review customer specifications and requirements, and develop quality systems and processes to best support them
  • Ability to influence Functional Organizations towards a preventive, quality-oriented culture from design throughout the life of the product
  • Provide budget, cost and schedule input for quality assignments
  • Document component and subsystem specifications and material requirements
  • Analyze designs as necessary and make recommendations from a quality and manufacturing perspective
  • Specify and evaluate supplier components, subsystems, services, access capabilities and capacities
  • Communicate clearly (written and oral) with manufacturing, supply chain, program management and the customer as required
  • Participate heavily in preparation of the more complex and significant proposals
  • Provide technical expertise and assistance to other engineers and support personnel
  • Interact with technical management, other professionals, technicians and support personnel to coordinate, recommend and confer regarding technical activities and progress
  • Support, communicate, reinforce and defend the mission, values and culture of the organization
  • Attend appropriate engineering, customer or business meetings

Job Responsibilities Part II

  • This role is specifically for Supplier Relationship Management / Supplier Quality Engineering. Significant travel > 50% should be anticipated when necessary (including unplanned travel to support missions)
  • Demonstrated experience in Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) preferred
  • Responsible for evaluating/defining segmentation criteria, governance, performance management, and development opportunities with critical suppliers in support of SRM model
  • Research and find the best suppliers to supply materials needed for manufacturing
  • Effectively interface with suppliers and internal teams to influence and/or lead change necessary to execute strategy and achieve goals
  • Conduct supplier capability, capacity, risk, and quality control audits on a regular basis to ensure suppliers and their supplies remain in compliance with company and federal manufacturing and production standards
  • Communicate with suppliers regularly to address any concerns and foster an environment that facilitates continuous improvement in working relationships
  • Understand and interpret all manufacturing audits, including AS9100 and other industry standards
  • Maintain a supplier database and include performance evaluations and quality control audits in the database for in-house access by company and manufacturing management personnel
  • Assist with logistics, including communications with suppliers when there are packaging and receiving issues when materials arrive at receiving dock
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of manufacturing processes and be able to support supplier development, continuous improvement, and quality management initiatives
  • Act as “voice of supplier” within DRS to ensure that all issues that could cause a risk to schedule and material conformance are addressed timely

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical field with a minimum of 10 years of experience
  • Master’s degree preferred
  • Expected to have knowledge and significant experience in multiple engineering disciplines
  • Ability to complete a technical project independently
  • Experience with military programs and qualifications is desired
