Job Summary

Responsible for managing a team of product engineers and engineering technicians supporting a wide range of Electro-Optical and Infrared Imaging systems being produced in Melbourne, FL.  At Leonard DRS, the Product Engineer is the technical Integrate Product Team (IPT) lead for a product in production.

Job Responsibilities

Ability to manage a technical group including junior to senior engineers as well as Subject Matter Experts
Work closely with programs to identify and resolve staffing gaps to ensure programs are staffed to reduce impacts to program execution.  Assign the right engineer with the right skillset to the program.
Responsible for talent growth and employee’s development, building the pipeline, and succession plan.  Identify technical gaps and provide input to strategic growth as well as training plan.
Monitor program progress and direct/redirect technical approaches and assign/re-assign staffing as needed.
Work closely with program to understand program budgets, cost, and schedule. 
Assess and propose improvements and optimizations to product verification and testing processes to reduce cost and schedule.
Input to program design-to-cost and design-for-manufacture requirements.
Review and approve BOEs; participate in preparation of proposals as needed.
Responsible for production standards and processes.  Has experience with troubleshoot and diagnose problems with products and production processes and make modifications and improvements as needed.
Working knowledge of statistical techniques for process development and improvement.
Drive the evaluation and streamline of production test configurations, test flows, and test processes to reduce cost and schedule; yet maintaining performance standards and specifications.
Compile and evaluate process or product design and test data; evaluate and recommend design approaches to meet production requirements for new or improved products.
Communicate clearly (written and oral) with other company personnel and the customer as required.
Support, communicate, reinforce, and defend the mission, values, and culture of the organization.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical field with a minimum of 7+ years of experience

Extensive experience with Product Engineering and Product Testing.
