Job Summary

Quality is where mission readiness gets real. As a Quality Engineer, you will strengthen the systems, controls, and decisions that protect product integrity from customer requirements through final disposition. This high-visibility role combines audit and certification support, corrective-action ownership, GIDEP coordination, disciplined QMS document control, and quality-data insight. You will work directly with engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, and leadership to identify risk early, close gaps with evidence, and keep quality systems sharp across the organization. This is your opportunity to own the systems that keep critical programs moving, resolving issues at the source, strengthening every handoff, and helping deliver dependable capability when the mission cannot afford uncertainty.

Essential Functions

  • Conduct internal quality audits and certification support for AS9100, ISO 9001, and ISO/IEC 17025; develop audit reports, document evidence-based findings, verify corrective-action effectiveness, support surveillance and customer audits, and communicate audit trends to leadership.
  • Support the nonconformance and corrective-action lifecycle, including aging, escalation, root-cause investigation, product-impact evaluation, documented disposition, closure, and effectiveness verification.
  • Facilitate structured root cause analyst investigations using 5 Whys, Fishbone and 8D; drive timely, fact-based resolution across engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, and leadership.
  • Administer GIDEP activities end to end, from alert receipt and applicability review through supplier and engineering coordination, disposition tracking, and closure.
  • Conduct calibration out of tolerance investigations, including product evaluation and documented disposition.
  • Maintain disciplined QMS document control and configuration integrity, including controlled documentation, change requests, revision history, approvals, effective dating, requirements traceability, and records retention.
  • Turn quality data into action by developing Power BI and Excel analyses that expose trends, systemic risks, audit results, corrective-action performance, and improvement opportunities.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Manufacturing Systems, Quality Engineering, or a related discipline; equivalent relevant experience may be considered.
  • Five or more years of quality assurance or quality engineering experience in a manufacturing, engineering, or regulated environment.
  • Working knowledge of AS9100 and ISO 9001, plus familiarity with ISO/IEC 17025 and calibration or measurement-traceability practices.
  • Demonstrated internal-audit experience, including planning, evidence collection, findings classification, reporting, follow-through, and audit closure.
  • Hands-on experience with corrective action and root-cause methods, including 5 Whys, Fishbone, 8D, and TIPQA or a comparable quality-management system.
  • Experience supporting or administering GIDEP activities, controlled documentation, and configuration/change-control processes.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills, including intermediate-to-advanced Power BI and Excel capability and working proficiency with Microsoft 365 tools.
  • Ability to travel up to 10% annually.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience as a registered GIDEP representative or administering a comparable government or industry product-alert program; ISO/IEC 17025 internal-auditor training, metrology experience, calibration-system support, or measurement-traceability assessment experience.
  • Background in defense, aerospace, or another regulated manufacturing environment, preferably supporting a prime contractor, supplier base, multiple sites, or multiple certifications.
  • Active or prior ASQ certification, such as Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), Certified Quality Technician (CQT), Certified Quality Auditor (CQA), or a comparable credential.
  • Experience administering or configuring an electronic document-control or quality-management system, including controlled documents, change requests, revision history, approval workflows, and records retention.
  • Advanced data and workflow capability, including Power BI, DAX, Power Query, Excel dashboards, AI-enabled quality tools, semantic document search, AI assistants, automated quality-data review, or workflow automation.
  • Demonstrated technical-writing and continuous-improvement experience, including quality procedures, work instructions, audit reports, corrective-action documentation, process controls, Lean, Kaizen, value-stream mapping, or a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt; Black Belt certification is a plus.
