Job Summary
DRS Land Electronics in Melbourne, FL is looking for an electrical engineer to join the hardware team and support our growth in compute, vision, and display systems for tactical applications in ruggedized military vehicle platforms. The ideal candidate has 8+ years electrical engineering experience with strong electrical engineering fundamentals. You will participate in digital circuit design, mixed-signal interfacing, and power supply design as well as testing, integration, and documentation of finished designs. Job Responsibilities
- Responsible for driving technology and completion of activity on time and budget. Design, develop, analyze, document and support testing of products, systems, or subsystems. Ability to complete a technical project independently. Mentor and coach other engineers.
- Involved with the design, development, modification, and analysis of various electronics systems. May include Hardware, Power Engineering, Power Electronic Engineering, Electromagnetic Engineering, Integrated Circuit Engineering, Components or others. Troubleshoot and diagnose malfunctions in existing products or systems and makes modifications as needed. Compile and evaluate design and test data. Analyze, develop, and recommend design approaches.

- Review customer specifications and requirements, and develop designs to best support them, including cost as a key design variable
- Provide budget, cost, and schedule input for design assignments
- Document component and subsystem specifications and material requirements
- Analyze designs as necessary
- Specify and evaluate supplier components, subsystems, and services
- Support the program design to cost and design for manufacture requirements
- Develop prototypes to retire key development risks
Job Responsibilities Part II
- Communicate clearly (written and oral) with manufacturing, supply chain, program management and the customer as required
- Participate heavily in preparation of the more complex and significant proposals
- Provide technical expertise and assistance to other engineers and support personnel
- Interact with technical management, other professionals, technicians, and support personnel to coordinate, recommend, and confer regarding technical activities and progress
- Support, communicate, reinforce, and defend the mission, values and culture of the organization
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering; Master's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering a plus
- 8+ Years Experience
- Proven track record of delivering high quality production ready designs, with units in the field
- Extensive experience with embedded systems that include x86 processors, application specific processors, microcontrollers, DSPs, or FPGAs
- Extensive hands-on experience with bench level bring-up tasks, debug, and testing by leveraging excellent critical thinking skills
- Experience with networking and communication interfaces such as Ethernet, USB, and CAN
- Experience with video display interfaces such as LVDS, DisplayPort, and HDMI
- Experience with low to medium power switch mode power supply design a plus
- Experience with Cadence Schematic Capture and familiarity with Allegro PCB Editor a plus
- Possess a self-starting determined attitude, with a focus on solving tough problems
- Mastery of technologies and domain knowledge
