The Leonardo DRS Land Electronics business provides C4I Network computing and integrated situational awareness, as well as state-of-the-art embedded diagnostics, vehicle power management and combat vehicle integration products and services.

Job Summary

Responsible for supervising a team of Electrical engineers and designers, as well as direct contribution to development of technical solutions and product.  May lead a development team or consult with multiple teams as a subject matter expert.  Exemplifies the DRS Way by promoting a culture of integrity, accountability, results driven, collaborative relationships and continuous improvement.

Job Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of Electrical engineers, designers, and technicians
    • Support of manpower assessment and planning
    • Recommend resource assignments
    • Provide career/training guidance to direct reports
    • Manage employee performance of direct reports
    • Identify functional needs/gaps
    • Support recruiting/hiring efforts
    • Evaluate and recommend engineering tools
    • Provide process compliance and tailoring guidance
    • Develop, review, and improve department processes and guidelines
  • Lead/contribute to Electrical technical solutions and products
    • Lead/contribute to a project team, a tiger team, or a process improvement initiative
    • Design, analyze, integrate and document products, systems or subsystems
    • Provide technical guidance and oversight to include concept development and peer/design review participation
    • Support/Lead Circuit Card Assembly (CCA) and System Level verification testing, transition to production, field issue resolution, and Root Cause Corrective Actions (RCCA)
    • Lead/contribute to Value Engineering and issue resolution teams
    • Provide budget, cost and schedule input including Basis of Estimates (BOEs)
    • Participate in proposals
    • Mentor engineers/designers
    • Support, communicate, reinforce and defend the mission, values and culture of the organization
  • At least 70% of time will be allocated to technical development, solutions, and products directly or in support of team members. The remaining time shall be applied to team management and development of process.

 

Job Responsibilities Part II

•    Position will require occasional domestic travel (<15%)
•    Must be a US citizen
•    Must be able to obtain a security clearance

Qualifications

  • Minimum Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering degree, or equivalent work experience, with a minimum of 5 years of experience.  Master’s degree a plus.
  • Experience planning development tasks (labor estimates, schedule creation)
  • Demonstrated leadership of a technical team
  • Experience with processor motherboard (Intel x86), video processing, and system development experience preferred
  • Knowledge of high speed interconnects such as PCIE, Gb Ethernet, DDR3/DDR4 Memory bus, USB 2.0, USB 3.0, LVDS/DisplayPort/HDMI, etc
  • Experience with portable, battery powered systems preferred
  • Experience in low-power low-voltage DC-DC power conversion preferred
  • Experience utilizing development tools required.  LTSpice, Cadence OrCAD Schematic Capture and Allegro editor/viewer, AutoCAD, and PTC CreoView preferred
  • Knowledge of video display design a plus
  • Professional work experience in defense industry/DoD a plus
  • Familiarity with designing to meet MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-1275, etc. is desired
  • Experience in Electrical design of ruggedized equipment, preferably for military applications
  • Foundation supporting growth into functional management (awareness of business needs, process understanding, driven to improve technical and performance at the functional level)
