Job Summary
The entry level manufacturing engineer will assist in bringing new products to production readiness. Will be intimately involved in all aspects of bringing cutting edge opto-mechanical products from engineering prototypes into full rate production.
Job Responsibilities
- Hands on build of prototypes and troubleshooting of each build process.
- Assembly integration and testing of custom manufacturing equipment.
- Define tooling and fixturing requirements and work directly with the CAD design team to develop, manufacture, and commission in support of manufacturing operations.
- Develop and optimize manufacturing flow and capacity plans.
- Organize and optimize manufacturing spaces.
- Create production documentation to support AS9100.
- Create and maintain control plans, SPC charts and use other tools such as FMEA to control and improve product quality.
- Perform design of experiments (DOEs) to improve production and quality, analyze data, suggest assembly, tooling, and product improvements.
- Develop alternate vendors for key components.
- Develop training collateral and train technicians.
- Support, communicate, reinforce, and defend the mission, values and culture of the organization.
Our ideal candidate will have
- Outstanding manual dexterity, ability to manipulate small objects under a microscope.
- Great communication ability both verbal and in writing, a demonstrated ability to perform technical writing.
- Demonstrated, hands on, ability to build things.
- A good understanding of mechanical assembly of small, precision mechanisms.
- A good understanding of statistics as it applies to industrial process control.
- A basic understanding of optics.
- A basic understanding of electronics, such as the ability to use an oscilloscope.
- A basic understanding of quality control techniques such as DOE, SPC, FMEA, poka yoke, lean manufacturing, etc.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in an applicable engineering field and 0+ years of experience or equivalent combination of education/training and experience
- Specialties may include manufacturing, production, industrial, welding, tooling, testing, processing, software, and robotics
