Job Summary
As a co-op student, software engineering, your main duties include but not limited to:
Software Development
Working with Systems Engineering and other Software developers, design, implement and test new features for the Shipboard Integrated Communications (SHINCOM) system. Help support our existing customer base by investigating, reproducing and provide fixes for existing issues.
Test and Debug
Understand how to deploy software loads to embedded and server-based components, operate and debug for investigation and testing of the software changes.
Engineering Processes
Develop and maintain thorough technical documentation. Gain proficiency in collaboration tools such, Jira, Git and Confluence to track progress and facilitate knowledge sharing within the team.
What you require to be successful in this role:
- Enrollment in a bachelor software engineering or computer sciences program at a recognized post secondary educational institution.
Experience in one of these foundation languages: C, C++, Java - A self-starter mentality with the ability to work independently with moderate supervision, while also adapting to evolving project demands and contributing effectively in a team-based environment.
- Working knowledge of Linux, networking and Git is considered an asset
