Job Summary
The Test Engineer position is responsible for and will participate in all phases of testing for a variety of HVAC&R products for both commercial and defense markets including heat exchanger coils, rugged air conditioning systems, refrigeration plants, fans, and air handling systems. The Test Engineer will assist in test setup, supervise and participate in testing, analyze results, and troubleshoot test data, develop test procedures as part of a team, and report test results.
Job Responsibilities
• Involved with the design, development and execution of test programs to measure the functionality and integrity of products and services
• Write test procedures and protocols to assess product reliability and evaluate the ability of products to meet performance standards and specifications
• Support scheduling and prioritizing lab tests
• Debug test hardware and software
Job Responsibilities Part II
• Responsible for technical activity and completion of assigned task on time and budget
• Design, develop, analyze, document and support testing of products, systems, or subsystems
• May use computer-aided engineering or other design / analysis software in the performance of assignments
• Report of progress and status regularly
• Provide budget, cost and schedule input for design assignments
• Specify and evaluate supplier components, subsystems, and services
• Support the program design to cost and design for manufacture requirements
• Develop prototypes to retire key development risks
• Communicate clearly (written and oral) with other company personnel and the customer as required
• Participates in preparation of less-complex proposals
• May provide technical knowledge and assistance to other engineers and support personnel
• Support, communicate, reinforce, and defend the mission, values and culture of the organization
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, chemical engineering or related technical field with 5-plus years experience
• EPA 608 Certification or the ability to obtain it
• Experience with the measurement of temperature, pressure, and flow
• Comfortable and competent operating mechanical components and equipment, preferably HVAC&R (air conditioning, air handling and refrigeration) equipment and/or centrifugal pumps and variable frequency drives
• Competency with MS Office software tools including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
• Comfortable and competent writing and creating technical documentation
Desired Qualifications
• Experience with laboratory equipment
• Experience working with fluid handling systems including pumps, control valves, piping systems,
• Experience designing and/or assembling plumbing/piping systems
• Experience using LabView or other data acquisition systems
• Comfortable and competent reading flowsheets or piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&ID)
