Job Summary

The Sr. Manager of Software Engineering will have excellent analytic and solutioning skills with the ability to solve interesting and challenging problems that arise in a range of radar and associated command and control systems. As the Manager, you will lead a dynamic team of Software Engineers working on radar, supporting sensors, applications, as well as software across the whole company and providing progress to Senior Leadership. This is a very customer-centric role with an extremely dynamic environment where requirements and goals are fluid.
 
 

Job Responsibilities

  • Involved with the design, development, analysis, testing and debugging of computer software applications and/or systems.  May include Image and Signal Processing, Real-time, Firmware, Database Design, Operating Systems, Operator/Machine Interface, or others.  Develop software tools including operating systems, compilers, utilities, databases, and AI.  Determine hardware compatibility.  Complete documentation and procedures for installation and maintenance.  Interact with users to define system requirements and/or necessary modifications.
  • Responsible for managing a team of software engineers on complex activities
  • Ability to manage a technical group independently
  • Understand customers end use application and develop solutions
  • Creating software documentation for existing software
  • Drive the program design to cost and design for manufacture requirements
  • Communicate clearly (written and oral) with other company personnel and the customer as required
  • Participate in preparation of proposals
  • Support, communicate, reinforce and defend the mission, values and culture of the organization
  • Attend appropriate engineering, customer or business meetings

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical field with a minimum of 7+ years of experience
  • Experience with C (primary),C++,C#, JavaScript, Python, Rust 
  • Understanding of Linux (Ubuntu), Git, Atlassian, Kafka, NextJS, NodeJS, Postgres, Qt, and ready to learn other technology as business needs change
  • Experience with Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning
  • Experience with scripting languages Pyton/Shell, source control systems (e.g. GIT, SVN, Redmine)
  • Experience with Embedded Multi-threaded application development and inter-process communication
  • Experience with Windows/MFC GUI design and programming
  • Experience with network development (protocols, messaging libraries, socket programming, etc.)
  • Military customer interface experience preferred

Preferred Qualifications

  • Understanding of AESA Radar types, concepts and theory of operations with emphasis on software
  • Understanding of Linux RHEL
  • Experience with Data Lakes, Data Warehourses, and Data Transformations

U.S. Citizenship required. This position requires an active DOD security clearance or the ability to obtain such clearance within a reasonable time after commencement of employment.

The expected pay scale for this position is $154,658/year - $240,106/year. Should the level, location, or scope of the position change during the hiring process, the pay scale may be modified accordingly. When extending an offer of employment, Leonardo DRS considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position; any Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, the candidate’s relevant work experience, education/training, certifications, and key skills; internal equity; and market and business considerations.
