Job Summary
We're hiring a Sr. Hardware Test & Automation Engineer in our Germantown, MD office. In this role, you will support development, integration, testing, and production of RF-centric products and systems across Signal Solutions line of business. Some remote flexibility permitted* plus we work a 9/80 schedule (every other Friday off)!
Our facility is currently located in Germantown, MD. Our business is experiencing growth in multiple market areas and as a result we are excited to announce that in Q3 2023 we will be in our newly built facility located just south of Frederick, off I-270. This modern facility, with ESG initiatives and surrounding green spaces, offers many amenities quickly accessible to this attractive location.
Job Responsibilities
- Develop feature level acceptance criteria and ensure that work products meet those criteria
- Develop test products/artifacts such as Bi-Directional Traceability Matrix to tie requirements to Test Cases, Test Plans, Test Procedures, and Test Reports
- Develop and implement test plans and procedures using established templates
- Develop automated tests for product and systems using a core test framework
- Perform automation framework design and implementation
- Work with development teams to test new features, converting initial manual test efforts into new automated tests
- Identify new automation best practices
- Lead product transition from development to production
- Lead and support Product Integration, Verification, & Validation (PIVV) test team(s) during acceptance testing, including test procedure walkthroughs, and answering questions on test software functionality
- Provide support to regression test team(s), and assist in documenting test results and issues as required
- Deliver stakeholder and program briefs on Test Engineering products’ status and vision
- Work as a cost account manager on some Test Engineering activities to ensure tasks are performed within budget and schedule
- Provide domain technical expertise and assistance to engineering and support personnel
- Analyze product/stakeholder specifications and requirements, and develop test designs and approaches to best support them within time and cost constraints
- Effectively communicate with team members, manufacturing, program management, customers and key stakeholders as required

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a STEM Discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) with a minimum of five years relevant experience (or an equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities)
- Relevant experience includes test development/design and architecture, test automation, data analytics, and process improvement
- Experience working System Test, Test SW Development, and Systems Engineering
- Experience working with requirements in DOORS
- Experience in test method definition, execution, automation, and data analysis
- Proficient in writing Python scripts. Additional experience with Java (NodeJS) and C++ preferred
- Proficient in developing automated test scripts utilizing GUI based test automation
- Experience developing and working with LabVIEW based ATE
- Experience with Windows/Linux operating systems & Virtual Machines (VMs)
- Experience parsing test data and developing meaningful insights using technical tools
- Knowledge of data science including machine learning and applied to operations (i.e. MLOps) preferred
- Experience with SQL and database technologies
- Experience with hands on hardware test and integration and comfortable with racking units, being hands on in a lab environment with hardware such as commercial/custom test equipment, custom electronics (simple to very complex), PCBs, Units, Test Sets, subsystems, and systems
- Competent use of lab equipment including Network analyzers, Spectrum analyzers, Scopes, Power Meters, Signal Generators, etc.
- Experience with RF hardware and software
- An understanding of Scaled Agile Framework and DevOps product development processes, including experience with Atlassian tool suite (JIRA, Git, Confluence)
- Some experience working proposal responses, developing basis of estimates, and developing and preparing proposal artifacts for delivery
- Ability to lead technical teams and mentoring/guiding the work of more junior engineers
- Experience performing problem analysis and resolution using lean and continuous improvement tools and tactics to satisfy customer and business needs
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt (or higher) certification preferred
- Familiarity with basic concepts of RF circuit design and troubleshooting preferred
- Experience in development/production environments, and transition processes between the two
- This position has the option of being either fully onsite in our Germantown facility or partly remote (onsite Tues-Thurs). Must live within commuting distance of the facility regardless of choice. Please note we are moving to Frederick in late 2023.
