Job Summary
DRS RADA Technologies is seeking a 2nd Shift Lead Material Handler to join our growing Germantown, Maryland team. This role is ideal for a collaborative, adaptable leader who can train and support team members, drive daily workflow, and respond effectively to evolving business needs.
Job Responsibilities
- Responsible and accountable for work orders or follows oral instructions to ascertain materials or containers to be moved
- Work under minimal supervision on duties and tasks that are frequently non-routine, adapting procedures, techniques, tools, materials and/or equipment to meet special needs
- May perform more detailed tasks requiring deeper knowledge and experience in the specified processes and procedures
- Rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish assigned goals
- Able to effectively communicate with other functional departments, such as Engineering, Purchasing, Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, and Sales departments
- Resolve most questions and problems, referring only the most complex issues to higher levels
- Serve as a resource to others in the resolution of complex problems and issues
- Responsible for overseeing the proper opening of containers using steel cutters, crowbar, claw hammer, or other hand tools
- Load and unload materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks, and shelves by hand
- Load materials into vehicles and installs strapping, bracing, or padding to prevent shifting or damage in transit, using hand tools
- Convey materials to or from storage or worksites to designated areas to include the manufacturing floor by use of hand truck, electric dolly, Forklift, or other device
- Count, weigh, and record materials moved or handled in an ERP system
- Attach tags or labels to materials or otherwise mark information
- Support, communicate, reinforce and defend the mission, values and culture of the organization
- Work under minimal supervision on duties and tasks that reflect substantial variety and complexity
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- 5+ years experience
- May require forklift certification
You must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. to be eligible for this position.
The salary range for this position is $22/hour-$29/hour. This range reflects the good faith estimate of pay the employer is willing to offer at the time of posting. Several factors can influence the pay scale, including but not limited to: Federal contract labor categories and contract wage rates, collective bargaining agreements, geographic location, business considerations, scope, and responsibilities of the position, local or other applicable market conditions, and internal equity. Other factors include the candidate’s qualifications such as prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, education/training, and certifications. In addition to base pay, employees may be eligible for: annual performance-based bonuses, equity awards, and overtime pay (for non-exempt employees as applicable.
