Job Summary

DRS Signal Solutions is looking for current students for an opportunity to contribute to technical projects and tasks in the relevant area of interest/study. This particular opening is for a Digital Engineering Intern/Co-op that is expected to contribute to digital hardware/FPGA design, hardware prototyping, integration & test, and/or digital signal processing.

Our facility is currently located in Germantown, MD.  Our business is experiencing growth in multiple market areas and as a result, we are excited to announce that in Q1 or Q2 2023 we will be in our newly built facility located just south of Frederick, off I-270.  This modern facility, with ESG initiatives and surrounding green spaces, offers many amenities quickly accessible to this attractive location.

Job Responsibilities

  • Conduct limited scope testing under the supervision of engineers
  • Compete assigned tasks on time
  • Gather and assemble data for engineers
  • With supervision, analyze test, and/or document (reports, design descriptions, schematics/layout) digital hardware developments
  • With supervision, analyze, test, and/or document (reports, design descriptions, Verilog/VHDL) programmable logic/firmware developments
  • Assist engineers with appropriate design details
  • Perform a wide variety of tasks to gain familiarity with the engineering staff, methods, programs and practices
  • Review specifications and requirements, and under direction, assist engineers and developing designs and best support them
  • Support, communicate, reinforce and defend the mission, values and culture of the organization
  • Other duties as assigned
     

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Engineering student
  • Must be enrolled in an accredited Electrical or Computer Engineering degree program (or related scientific/technical discipline) at a sophomore level or higher
  • Must have a GPA of 3.0 GPA or higher, overall and in major
  • Relevant course studies may include Single Chip Microcomputers, Intro to Computer Programming, Object-Oriented programming, Introduction to Signal Analysis, Computer Architecture, Digital System Design, Electric Circuit Analysis, Computer Networking
  • Effective written and oral communication skills
  • Previous internship/co-op experience preferred
