What This Role Is:

As an Associate Mechanical Engineering Technician, you will support the engineering team by translating concepts, drawings, and production needs into practical mechanical and electromechanical solutions. This is a hands-on, entry-level technical role for an individual who enjoys building, testing, troubleshooting, documenting, and improving hardware in a collaborative engineering and manufacturing environment

What You'll Do:

Build, Test, Improve

• Support the design, fabrication, and modification of mechanical and electromechanical components, assemblies, and systems.
• Perform routine engineering support and hands-on technical work, including building, modifying, and troubleshooting fixtures, tools, equipment, and component assemblies.
• Assist with the design, build, and procurement of new or improved machines, tools, fixtures, and material-handling equipment.
• Set up and conduct component and unit tests under direction; capture procedures, results, numerical or graphical data, and recommendations for improvement.

Partner with Engineering

• Work with engineers to evaluate design approaches and help resolve product and process issues affecting production, quality, or performance.
• Review drawings, work instructions, and project documentation to understand test objectives, specifications, technical issues, and potential solutions.
• Contribute to improvements in plant layouts, manufacturing methods, and work processes; support maintenance projects as needed.
• Work independently on assigned daily tasks while communicating progress, issues, and needs to the engineering team.

Document and Deliver

• Maintain accurate process documentation, including bills of material, route sheets, equipment records, and related manufacturing documentation.
• Support and reinforce the mission, values, and culture of Leonardo DRS and DRS RADA Technologies.

What This Role Is Not:

This is not a purely desk-based CAD or design-engineer role. While you will use drawings and may work with SolidWorks, a meaningful part of the work is hands-on fabrication, assembly, testing, and troubleshooting.

This is not a maintenance-only position. You will support maintenance-related work when needed, but the core focus is engineering support, product and process improvement, and technical execution.

This is not a remote role. The work requires regular, on-site collaboration with engineering and manufacturing teams and access to shop and laboratory equipment.

This is an entry-level technical opportunity designed to build practical engineering experience. Complex work is performed with direction and support from experienced team members.

What You Bring:

• High school diploma or GED.
• Beginning technical knowledge and familiarity with shop or laboratory environments, tools, and equipment.
• Introductory experience using SolidWorks or comparable mechanical CAD software.
• A hands-on, detail-oriented approach to building, testing, documenting, and resolving technical issues.
• Ability to follow drawings, written instructions, test procedures, and established safety and quality practices.
• Strong teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to take ownership of routine daily tasks.

U.S. citizenship is required. This position requires an active Department of Defense security clearance or the ability to obtain one within a reasonable time after employment begins
