Job Summary
Leonardo DRS AIS Signal Solutions Line of Business is looking for a Sr. Project Engineer to lead engineering execution on large, complex project initiatives to meet Program schedules and budgets with minimal oversight or direction. The Sr. Project Engineer develops and administers program execution plans, technical performance standards, and, with assistance from Program Managers/Schedulers, helps develop and administer budgets and schedules. Project Engineers solve issues that impede program progress, allowing the rest of the engineering team to concentrate on their work at hand. They will also participate in new business activities including proposals, preparing bids, and developing basis of estimates (BOEs).
Job Responsibilities
- Responsible for leading all engineering efforts for a complex project or projects on time and budget
- Ensure design compliance with all project requirements
- Review customer specifications and requirements, and lead a project team to develop designs to best support them, including cost as a key design variable
- Provide budget, cost and schedule input for design assignments
- Communicate clearly (written and oral) with manufacturing, supply chain, program management and the customer as required
- Participate heavily in preparation of the more complex and significant proposals
- Interact with technical management, other professionals, technicians and support personnel to coordinate, recommend and confer regarding technical activities and progress
- Lead a project team or teams as assigned
- Support, communicate, reinforce and defend the mission, values and culture of the organization
- Attend appropriate engineering, customer or business meetings
- Mentor and coach less experienced engineers
- Other duties as assigned
Job Responsibilities Part II
- Establish and manage a technical baseline, including requirements management and decomposition using DOORS, Cognition Cockpit, or similar
- Monitor engineering performance and ensuring issues are addressed immediately, and corrective actions and recovery plans are implemented expeditiously
- Perform as an Earned Value Management System (EVMS) Control Account Manager (CAM) for an entire project or a major component of a program
- Support multidisciplinary program reviews and presentations throughout the different phases of development, certification, and production readiness with internal and external stakeholders
- Facilitate stand-up meetings, retrospectives, sprints, release planning and delivery of artifacts for one or more projects
- Support and/or lead RF performance analysis (e.g., Instantaneous Dynamic Range, Noise Figure, Pass Band Response, etc.) and trades based on customer CONOPS and market needs
- Prepare and execute technical and independent reviews (IPBRs, SRRs, PDRs, CDRs, TRRs, PRRs, etc.)
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in engineering or related technical field with a minimum of 10 years of experience
- Mastery of technologies and domain knowledge
- Expected to have knowledge and experience in multiple engineering disciplines
- Ability to independently lead a team of engineers to complete a complex project or projects
- Strong customer relations, negotiation skills, and decision-making abilities
- Demonstrated project leadership including cost, schedule, and technical responsibility of complex electronics subsystems with significant RF, Digital, and/or Software components
- Experience as an Integration, Verification & Validation (IV&V) Lead or Technical Lead
- Familiarity with Microsoft Power BI and Dashboard
- Familiarity with Agile, DevOps, Scrum; Failure Reporting and Corrective Action Systems (FRACAS)
- Previous experience managing engineering teams with 5+ direct reports is a plus
