Job Summary
- Plans, manages, and directs the overall product development activities of the company’s advanced technologies.
- Leads the creation, development, design, and improvement of advanced technology products in support of established programs and Strategic Plan objectives
Job Responsibilities
- Plan, manage, and direct the overall product development activities of the company’s advanced technologies in a diverse array of areas including but not limited to: HF, VHF, and SHF tuners and receivers, demodulators, direction finders and wireless intercept solutions, naval and airborne networked communications systems, electronic warfare systems, air combat training systems, air cargo handling systems, and weapon control systems.
- Coordinate / lead the creation, development, design, and improvement of advanced technology products in support of established programs and Strategic Plan objectives, including managing and directing advanced technology focused Internal Research and Development (IRAD) projects
- Assists the company's business leaders in development and execution of the Strategic Plan
- Assist in development of long-range technology roadmaps, and associated advanced technology development planning, to ensure best use of company resources and discretionary funds in accordance with objectives for growth and profitability
- Recommend strategies for lines of business within the organization supporting the short and / or long-range strategic objectives of the company
- Seek out, investigate, and assess outside opportunities for the company, including possible acquisitions, joint ventures, mergers, technology licensing, small business innovative research (SBIR) partnering and teaming; develop business cases for resulting recommendations and present findings to company’s business leaders
- Identify cross-business synergy and collaboration opportunities, and lead development of associated business strategies
- Advise appropriate personnel of the latest technical and engineering developments
- Manage budget, cost and schedule input for design, development, integration, and testing of advanced technologies
- Communicate clearly (written and oral) with other company personnel and customers
- Work with the BD team to ensure that “technology to win” as a key discriminator is both understood with respect to current and future customers / CONOPs and is available for strategic captures and market penetration campaigns.
- Participate in preparation of proposals
- Direct the work of others, as assigned
- Support, communicate, reinforce, and defend the mission, values, and culture of the organization

- Attend appropriate Engineering, customer or business meetings
- Participate in formal design reviews across the company, as appropriate

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical field with a minimum of 15+ years of experience
- Secondary Qualifications
- Knowledgeable in current and emerging technologies across the markets in which the company competes
- Must be open minded, creative, success oriented, capable of “big picture” thinking, not constrained by convention and extremely self-motivated to pursue and achieve goals
- Knowledgeable in business development with experience developing competitive new business strategies.
- Well-developed skills in the area of planning, organizing and negotiation
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams in project-based environment
- Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
- Solid leadership and management skills, particularly “influence management” and “conflict resolution”
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Must have the ability to travel 10 – 25% of the time
- Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance
