DRS Training & Control Systems (TCS), Fort Walton Beach, FL, provides engineering, manufacturing, and support of defense and aerospace systems for sea, land, air, and space use.  Our product and service areas include electronic control and monitoring systems, aerospace material handling systems, simulation and training systems, aerospace support equipment, contract manufacturing, engineering, and product support. In addition, DRS TCS has contract logistics support operations domestically as well as in Europe and the Middle East.

Job Summary

The Assembler position in Fort Walton Beach, FL performs advanced-level assembly functions which may include: prep, mechanical, harness, cable, printed circuit board sub-assemblies, spray application, and inspection, typically working from models and/or drawings within production.  This postion supports Vertical Launch Systems (VLS).  This is a full time position with benefits plus we work a 9/80 schedule (every other Friday off)! $500 SIGN ON BONUS FOR A LIMITED TIME!

Job Responsibilities

  • Perform advanced-level assembly functions, which may include: prep, mechanical, harness, cable, printed circuit board sub-assemblies, spray application, and inspection, typically working from models and/or drawings within production 
  • May perform soldering and installation of components to contract specifications, using a wide range of tools and equipment
  • Responsible and accountable for producing quality work to prescribed standards, with a focus on continuous improvement to meet customer commitments on schedule, within budget and to SPC standard practices
  • Must be trained across all assembly stages
  • Work w/Engineering to build 1st articles by interpreting print/specification with no process provided and the ability to interpret/assemble all units in dept
  • Interpret blueprints and Process Flow Instructions
  • If required, perform all aspects of inspection (in-process, final and source; allocate partial points - 3 points in-process - 3 points final - 4 points source)
  • Work under minimal supervision on duties and tasks that are frequently non-routine, adapting procedures, techniques, tools, materials and/or equipment to meet special needs
  • May perform more detailed task that require deeper knowledge and experience in the specified processes and procedures
  • Rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish assigned goals
  • Resolve most questions and problems, referring only the most complex issues to higher levels
  • Serve as a resource to others in the resolution of complex problems and issues
  • Must maintain a safe work environment by adhering to all safety procedures including those which govern the handling of materials, chemicals, tools, and equipment (WHMIS)
  • Proper use of required PPE 
  • May periodically assist in orienting and training lower level employees 
  • May participate in LEAN Events, “Six S” activities, action teams etc.
  • Support, communicate, reinforce and defend the mission, values and culture of the organization

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED and 2 years of experience
  • Self-starter, able to work well independently, and demonstrated good decision making ability
  • Effective commucation skills
  • Able to follow written and verbal work instructions and interpret blueprints
  • Experience with cabling/wiring preferred
  • Soldering experience and IPC/620 certfication a plus

 

*$500 sign on bonus for new, full time Assembler and Test Technicians hired 4/20/21-7/1/21.
