Job Summary
This Quality Engineer will work closely with the Quality Management System (QMS) and provide strong internal auditing capability within an AS9100 certified workplace.
Job Responsibilities
- Plan, schedule, and conduct internal audits in accordance with AS9100/ISO 9001 requirements and the site audit program
- Perform process, product, and system audits across manufacturing, test, inspection, engineering, and support functions
- Document objective evidence, write clear nonconformities, and ensure audit results are communicated to stakeholders
- Lead and verify root cause and corrective action activities, including effectiveness verification and closure on process and product quality issues
- Support and maintain the audit schedule, audit checklists, and related QMS records and metrics
- Assist with external audits (registrar, customer, and regulatory) including preparation, coordination, and response support
- Identify systemic risks, recurring issues, and opportunities for improvement; escalate when necessary to protect compliance and quality
- Develop, maintain, and deploy quality plans and activities that translate customer and program requirements into planned quality actions
- Analyze program requirements and prepare responsive procedures, schedules, and resource recommendations to assure effective quality support
- Responsible for assisting with quality system development and supporting product quality improvements
- Ability to work independently under supervision of others
- Perform analyses of program requirements and prepare responsive quality plans, procedures, schedules and resource allocations to assure optimum quality support
- Review and approve engineering/test and contractor documentation and provide input to assure that appropriate quality requirements are addressed
- Gather, organize, monitor, analyze and report on information on products and processes
- Participate on product quality improvement teams, Material Review Boards
- Assist in resolving customer quality issues
- Participate in supplier selection and improvement processes
- Communicate clearly (written and oral) with other company personnel and the customer as required
- Support, communicate, reinforce and defend the mission, values and culture of the organization
- Attend appropriate customer, business or program meetings
- Provide regular reporting of progress and status
- Completion of assigned task on time and meeting technical requirements
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical field or equivalent experience
- Working knowledge of AS9100/ISO 9001 concepts and quality system fundamentals
- ASQ certification (e.g., CQA, CQE) or audit-specific training (AS9100 internal auditor training) is preferred
- Experience or demonstrated capability in internal auditing (process-based auditing preferred)
- Basic knowledge of Six Sigma tools, statistics, and data analysis
- Ability to interpret engineering documentation including drawings/blueprints and relevant military or industry specifications
- Strong interpersonal, negotiation, communication, and writing skills
- Proven ability to define problems, drive to root cause, and implement effective corrective actions
U.S. Citizenship required. This position requires an active DOD security clearance or the ability to obtain such clearance within a reasonable time after commencement of employment.
The salary range for this position is $66,049-$94,450/year. This range reflects the good faith estimate of pay the employer is willing to offer at the time of posting. Several factors can influence the pay scale, including but not limited to: Federal contract labor categories and contract wage rates, collective bargaining agreements, geographic location, business considerations, scope, and responsibilities of the position, local or other applicable market conditions, and internal equity. Other factors include the candidate’s qualifications such as prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, education/training, and certifications. In addition to base pay, employees may be eligible for: annual performance-based bonuses, equity awards, and overtime pay (for non-exempt employees as applicable.
