Job Summary

Leonardo DRS Naval Power Systems is seeking a Manager of Program Finance to lead a team of program financial analysts and support the financial performance of complex naval defense programs. This role partners with Program Management, Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, Contracts, and Finance leadership to deliver reliable forecasts, disciplined Estimates at Completion (EACs), and clear financial insights that support decisions.

The manager oversees program financial planning, reporting, analysis, and controls while developing a team that can explain what changed, identify the underlying drivers, and recommend effective actions.

This is a hybrid position requiring regular onsite presence in our Fitchburg, MA office.

What You'll Do

  • Lead and develop the program finance team: Establish priorities, review work quality, coach analysts, and strengthen the team’s technical expertise and communication skills.
  • Oversee EACs and forecasts: Challenge cost-to-complete assumptions, assess program profitability, and ensure risks and opportunities are supported and clearly communicated. Review program and portfolio forecasts for bookings, revenue, gross margin, and cash flow against prior forecasts and the operating plan.
  • Analyze performance and support program decisions: Explain variances through underlying labor, material, subcontract, schedule, and execution drivers—not only summary-level results. Partner with program and functional leadership to evaluate the financial impact of execution issues and program changes, recommend corrective actions, and track their resolution.
  • Lead program reviews and support financial close: Ensure program-review exhibits reconcile, assumptions are transparent, and presentations communicate the conclusion, supporting evidence, and required decisions. Review program revenue, costs, and profitability during financial close for consistency with approved estimates, applicable accounting requirements, and company policy.
  • Support proposals, controls, and process improvement: Partner with Pricing and Contracts to review financial assumptions, cost estimates, funding considerations, and profitability implications for proposals and contract changes. Ensure timely, accurate reporting and adherence to applicable government-contracting requirements, internal controls, and corporate policies. Standardize financial reporting, strengthen data quality, and reduce manual or duplicate preparation.

Education & Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related discipline.
  • Seven or more years of progressive finance experience in government contracting or a complex manufacturing environment, subject to job-grade validation.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and develop financial analysts.
  • Strong knowledge of EACs, forecasting, budgeting, program profitability, cost accounting, and variance analysis.
  • Working knowledge of applicable FAR/DFARS, CAS, SOX, and accounting requirements.
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience with ERP, financial planning, and business-intelligence tools.
