Job Summary

Opportunity Summary:
Location: Dulles, VA

The Proposal Writer researches and writes customer-oriented technical, management, and business sales information to create text for proposals and other documents related to answering requirements. This position encompasses interviewing SMEs, uncovering expert information using traditional and electronic research techniques, storyboarding, structured yet persuasive writing, and template/boilerplate development. The Proposal Writer ensures consistency of terminology, style, and statistics throughout the proposal.

Job Responsibilities

    Interview SMEs to gather information to answer customer requirements as gleaned from RFI, RFP draft, RFP final, or other documents from customers requiring a written response from DRS.  
    Use traditional and electronic research methods to uncover expert information to answer RFP requirements.
    Identify ways to incorporate proposal text with a selling message.
    Develop and/or incorporate benefit messages to sell specific elements of the client's offer in text and graphics.
    Under direction of the Proposal Manager and/or Volume Manager, create storyboards to develop a compliant and benefit-driven proposal response.
    Develop persuasive writing inputs based upon agreed-to strategies.
    Prepare draft text and graphic ideas for review by the Proposal Manager.
    Incorporate Proposal Manager inputs for draft proposal response for first color team review.
    Incorporate appropriate color team review comments at each stage of the proposal process.
    Manage the proposal content library including ensuring compliance to reflect the most up-to-date versions for easy access and usage. 
    Analyze developments in content to determine need for revisions in previously published materials and in developing new material. 
    Curate and maintain a library of past performance materials.

Job Responsibilities Part II

Years Experience
    5+ years of proposal writing and/or technical writing experience. 

    Intermediate knowledge in proposal writing and technical writing
    Intermediate knowledge in desktop publishing software
    Proficient in applications such as Microsoft Office.
