Job Summary

Join our Engineering team in Danbury, CT as a Software Engineer! In this role, you will be involved with the design, development, analysis, testing, and debugging of embedded software applications and systems.

 

NPS offers a rare environment where projects are diverse; ranging from legacy systems designed in the 1980’s to the latest technology, ensuring that engineers remain challenged by their work. Engineers are involved in shaping project concepts from the start; collaborate on designs; contribute through individual implementation efforts; and see the results of their accomplishments through completion of integration and test.

 

This is an onsite position with some hybrid flexibility. The ideal candidate will live within a commutable distance to our Danbury, CT office.

What You Will Do

  • Involved with the design, development, analysis, testing and debugging of computer software applications and/or systems which may include Image and Signal Processing, Real-time, Firmware, Nuclear/Hi-Rel, FAA Certified, Database Design, Operating Systems, Operator/Machine Interface, or others
  • Develop software tools including operating systems, compilers, routers, networks, utilities, databases, and Internet-related tools
  • Determine hardware compatibility
  • Complete documentation and procedures for installation and maintenance
  • May use computer-aided engineering or other design/analysis software in the performance of assignments 
  • Ability to work independently under supervision of others
  • Review customer specifications and requirements, and under direction, develop designs to best support them, including cost as a key design variable 
  • Support, communicate, reinforce and defend the mission, values and culture of the organization

Education & Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and/or Engineering + 2-3 years of related embedded software development experience
  • Excellent communicator and collaborator
  • Candidates must be a US citizen and meet DRS security standards as imposed by DoD, including the issuance of any necessary security clearance by the US government within a reasonable time after commencement of employment
