Job Summary
This Microbolometer Scientist II position is an advanced research and development role in the DRS Research, Advanced Prototyping, and Innovative Design (RAPID) Laboratory. This scientist is responsible for planning, conducting, and directing uncooled research and development projects where the complexity of the technical problems requires advanced knowledge and scientific specialization.
Job Responsibilities
- Research fundamental improvements to microbolometer performance
- Invent new product concepts
- Design, conduct, and analyze experiments to probe fundamental performance limits
- Support other departments with failure analysis for yield improvement and cost reduction
- Write reports and present papers to win business and enhance Laboratory creditability
- Disseminate knowledge via patents, technical papers, and technical memorandum
- Represent the Laboratory at industry and government briefings
- Provide technical expertise and assistance to other engineers and support personnel
- Interact with management, other professionals, technicians, and support personnel to coordinate, recommend, and confer regarding technical activities and progress
- Support, communicate, and reinforce the mission, values, and culture of the organization
- Attend appropriate engineering, customer, or business meetings
- Mentor and coach the work of others as assigned
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Specialties may include Device Physics, Material Science, or Engineering
- Master’s degree in physical science or engineering discipline required; PhD preferred
- A minimum of 2 years of experience
- Expertise in MEMS design, layout, materials, process integration, and fabrication
- Must be a team player with good communication skills
U.S. Citizenship required. This position requires an active DOD security clearance or the ability to obtain such clearance within a reasonable time after commencement of employment.
