Job Summary
The Systems Administrator/Network Administrator will manage and tune in-house computer and network systems to ensure high levels of availability and security of the supported business applications.
Job Responsibilities
• Manage and tune in-house computer and network systems to ensure high levels of availability and security of the supported business applications
• Install, configure, monitor, administer and maintain servers and network devices
• Responsible for monitoring backup jobs, analyzing and correcting issues as identified, regularly reporting critical data metrics and issues to management, and proactively maintaining the health and safety of the storage solutions
• Analyze system, server, application, and network performance
• Participate in and support capacity planning and the development of long-term strategic goals for systems and software in conjunction with end-users and department managers
• Support application development teams throughout project lifecycle
• Manage scalability, availability, and performance of servers and network devices.
• Install patches and upgrades to server hardware, firmware, and/or software
• Interact and negotiate with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to secure network products and services
• Monitor and test network performance and provide network performance statistics and reports
• Aid in development of business continuity and disaster recovery plans, and maintain current knowledge of plan executables
• Provide guidance to less experienced personnel
• Perform routine to moderately complex problem analysis and resolution design for systems and applications
• Support, communicate, reinforce, and defend the mission, values and culture of the organization
• Maintain timely and accurate helpdesk records using the ticket management system
• Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations
• Accomplish organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments
• Protect organization's value by preserving the confidentiality of information
• Willingness to work off hours
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in business administration, management information systems, mathematics, information technology, computer sciences, a related field, or equivalent experience
• At least five (5) years of directly related experience in computer and network systems administration
• Experience in current principles and practices of system administration
• Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
• Ability to work independently as well as cooperatively in a team-oriented environment
• Ability to successfully interact with all levels of management, other IT professionals and end-users
• Strong analytic and problem-solving skills
• Is open and responsive to change and demonstrates a commitment to the process of continuous improvement by identifying and responding actively and with sensitivity to the needs of all customers
Experience with the following systems is required:
Operating Systems:
• Windows Server 2016, 2019 and newer.
• Active Directory Administration.
Virtualization:
• vSphere 6.7 and 7.x
• vCenter 6.7 and 7.x
• ESX 6.7 and 7.x
