Position Summary

Leonardo DRS in Cypress, CA is seeking a Manufacturing intern to support operations staff in process and continuous improvement in support of production operations. The candidate must be a well-organized self-starter, able to work in a team environment, have good communication and technical skills, and able to professionally interact with other departments.

Basic Qualifications and Required Skills

  • Pursuing undergraduate degree in an Engineering curriculum, 3rd Year status minimum
  • Must be enrolled in an accredited university and maintain a 3.3 or higher GPA
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tool suite
  • Be available to work part-time (10-20 hours per week)
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work well both as part of a team or as an individual
  • Ability to manage multiple short-term projects simultaneously
  • Ability to use hand tools for assembly and disassembly of mechanical engineering parts

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Operations Manager in the conduct of various engineering assignments
  • Perform a wide variety of tasks to gain familiarity with the engineering staff, methods, programs and practices
  • Maintain organization of an engineering equipment library
  • Implement lean manufacturing tools on the production floor
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose problems with existing products and make modifications and improvements as needed
  • Provide regular reporting of progress and status
  • Complete assigned tasks on time
  • Support, communicate, reinforce, and defend the mission, values and culture of the organization
  • Other duties as assigned

Working Conditions

  • Normal for an office environment. Work may require occasional weekend and/or evening work
  • Physical activity includes the handling and moving of equipment (up to 50 lbs)

The expected pay scale for this position is $20.27/hour - $27.87/hour. Should the level, location, or scope of the position change during the hiring process, the pay scale may be modified accordingly.
