Title: Engineering Technician
Job Location: Manassas, VA
Position Summary: The Engineering Technician position will support engineering with a variety of moderately complex engineering duties and/or hands-on tasks. This position requires an engineering technician for maintenance, fabrication, and integration of laboratory assists. This position includes supporting hardware/software integration activities, fixing testing and building military tactical cables, connectors and hardware. Reviews project instructions and drawings to ascertain test specifications, procedures, objectives, test equipment, nature of technical problem and possible solutions, and to support hardware for development and delivery.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Engineering Technician is responsible for performing the following tasks:
- Support hardware/software testing tasks.
- Support engineering with a variety of moderately complex engineering duties and/or hands-on tasks
- Competent technical expertise
- Comfortable with the shop/laboratory and equipment
- Assists in design, build and/or procurement of new or improved machines, tools, fixtures and material handling equipment and coordinating the implementation
- Responsible for completing process documentation, bill of materials, route sheets, etc
- Sets up and conducts tests of units and components
- Provides and develops documentation to maintain equipment
- Assists in the development of plant layouts, manufacturing methods and process improvements
Basic Qualifications:
- Associate Degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical field, or equivalent combination of education and experience (2+ years)
- Active or Inactive US Government Security Clearance (DoD)
- Knowledge of lab test equipment and basic hand tools
- System hardware/software troubleshooting experience
- Strong written and verbal communications skills
Additional Desirable Qualifications, Skills, and Knowledge:
- Understanding of systems communications protocols such as RS232, TCP-IP, UDP
- Experience with Linux OS and scripting programming language
- US Military background
Physical Requirements:
- Lifting up to 20 lbs.: up to 25% of time
- Standing, Stooping, Bending, Climbing, Kneeling: up to 40% of time
- Walking: up to 25% of time
- Sitting: up to 75% of time
- Travel: up to 10% of time
AAC works on a 9/80 compressed schedule whereby employees work 80 hours in 2 weeks with every other Friday off.
