Work Schedule/Location

This position will work in a hybrid environment (typically 2-3 days per week on-site) based out of our Engineering Center of Excellence located in Burnsville, MN.

Job Summary

Mixed Domain Circuit Designer, with an emphasis on PCB layout, from requirements to verification. Responsible for electrical engineering activities including creating circuits that meet design parameters, developing test procedures, analyzing reports, creating process documentation, and conducting testing of products, subsystems, and systems. Creating interconnect diagrams and designing connecting cables for components/subsystems. Working closely with other engineers as part of an engineering team. 

Job Responsibilities

  • Use Cadence/Allegro schematic capture and layout tools as well as FPGA Tool Chains for development
  • VHDL/Verilog HDL design
  • Design, develop, and simulate circuits
  • Designing electrical and electronic cables using Harness Designer or AutoCAD Electrical
  • Produce documentation including hardware design description, block diagrams, and test plans
  • Occasional on-site support testing of products, subsystems, and systems in Largo, FL
  • Review designs from other engineers and provide critical feedback
  • Analyze and provide recommendations to mitigate part obsolescence and diminishing sources of supply
  • Provide regular reporting of progress and status
  • Responsible for independent completion of assigned tasks on time and meeting technical requirements
  • Specify and evaluate supplier components, subsystems, and services
  • Develop models, simulations, and prototypes as necessary to mitigate key development risks
  • Communicate clearly (written and oral)

Job Responsibilities (cont.)

  • Experience with Intel/Altera toolset
  • Experience migrating legacy designs – working knowledge of other design packages such as Siemens Xpedition and Altium Designer
  • Use electronics design processes and archival techniques for schematic entry/board layout/library work
  • Electronics integration and test
  • Attend appropriate engineering, customer or business meetings
  • Support the preparation of proposals

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical field and a minimum of 2 years of experience
  • Novice technical expertise and application domain knowledge

U.S. Citizenship required. This position requires an active DOD security clearance or the ability to obtain such clearance within a reasonable time after commencement of employment.

 

The expected pay scale for this position is $85,000/year - $122,000/year. Should the level, location, or scope of the position change during the hiring process, the pay scale may be modified accordingly. When extending an offer of employment, Leonardo DRS considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position; any Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, the candidate’s relevant work experience, education/training, certifications, and key skills; internal equity; and market and business considerations.
