Job Summary
Leonardo DRS Land Systems is seeking a full time Systems Engineer - Controls for our Bridgeton, MO facility. The individual contributor will support the development of stabilized high precision pointing platforms containing Electro Optic (EO) and Infrared (IR) sensors. In support of these platforms the individual will perform analysis, modeling, simulation, control strategy design, with hardware in the loop tuning to meet stabilization and tracking requirements. As a member of the Systems Engineering team, the individual will participate in requirements development all aspects of a products lifecycle.
Job Responsibilities
- Involved with the development of stabilization and tracking algorithms that meet disturbance rejection requirements for pointing systems
- Collaborate in the technical activities of electrical, mechanical, and software engineers to develop and deliver a stabilized pointing and tracking system that fully meets the system requirements and customer’s expectations
- Support efforts to ensure a compliance with program requirements
- Support problem resolution efforts to support customer confidence
- Use computer-aided design or other engineering/analysis software as necessary in the performance of assignments
- Communicate effectively with engineers and non-engineering support staff to evaluate technical information and issues impacting design performance or other deliverables
- Perform trade studies
- Support the acquisition of hardware and software (or subcontractor services as needed)
- Study alternative concepts and use of models and simulations to predict system performance
- Support the specification and evaluation of supplier components, subsystems, and services
- Participate in the preparation of highly technical proposals
- Support, communicate, reinforce and defend the mission, values and culture of the organization
- Attend appropriate engineering, customer or business meetings
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with proficiency in course work related to Control, Signal Processing, and Communication
- Technical Familiarity (experience preferred) with
- Frequency and Time Domain Control Techniques
- Gain Scheduling
- Disturbance Rejection Feedback and Isolation
- State Space Analysis
- Good analytical and communication skills, written and oral
- Familiarity in the use of analysis and modeling tools (MATLAB, Simulink, Mathcad, Excel)
- Ability to travel in CONUS and OCONUS, less than 25% of the time
- Ability to collaborate in a multi-disciplinary team
U.S. Citizenship required. This position requires an active DOD security clearance or the ability to obtain such clearance within a reasonable time after commencement of employment.
The expected pay scale for this position is $64,313.00/year - $91,966.00/year for the state of Illinois. Should the level, location, or scope of the position change during the hiring process, the pay scale may be modified accordingly.
