Job Summary

Leonardo DRS Land Systems is seeking a full time Payroll Specialist I for our Bridgeton, MO facility.  This position will be responsible for processing Union payroll including entering new hires and employee maintenance as required.  The selected candidate should have intermediate experience Excel and a high level of integrity.  This position is part of a supportive and integral team that works together to ensure payroll is processed timely and efficiently. 

Job Responsibilities

  • Under direction process timely weekly payroll for union employees through multiple systems, reviewing employee hours for discrepancies
  • Process New Hires, Intercompany transfers, and Terminations
  • Process employee payroll corrections as needed
  • Verify payroll and leave balance throughout the payroll process to ensure all systems balance
  • Escalate one off issues to the payroll team/manager for review and resolution as needed
  • Verify Awards and bonus’ through the payroll system
  • Download reports and distribute per requirements
  • Balance insurance premiums, 401K, and payroll totals to the control worksheet
  • Prepare Accounts Payable payment requests for weekly payroll deductions
  • Respond to garnishment data requests from courts, ensure documents are sent to the correct parties involved
  • Prepare monthly Union dues reports and send to appropriate parties
  • Enter 3rd party sick adjustments quarterly as needed
  • May assist in balancing year end W-2 data, including gross wages, and taxes
  • Answer payroll inquiries from Union HR and management

Job Responsibilities Part II

  • Prepare weekly journal entries
  • Balance tax workbooks weekly
  • Work with team on other duties as needed to ensure all payroll/finance projects/upgrades are completed timely
  • Maintain discretion at all times due to sensitive and confidential information
  • Support, communicate, reinforce, and defend the mission, values, and culture of the organization

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 2+ years of experience in payroll
  • Knowledge of payroll business procedures and principles
  • Working knowledge of computerized payroll systems
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite
  • Knowledge of local, state and federal laws that pertain to the payment of wages
  • Experience with Costpoint, Shop Floor Time, and/or ADP a plus
