Job Summary

Leonardo DRS Land Systems is seeking a Full Time Mechanical Engineer for our Bridgeton, MO facility.  They will be responsible for the design, fabrication support and modification of mechanical and/or electro-mechanical components, sub-systems and systems.  Projects vary and may include skills with Mechanical Analysis, Aerodynamics/Fluids, Thermal, Fluid Systems, Mechanical Packaging, or others.  This position evaluates and supports the recommended design approach to meet production requirements for new or improved products or services.  They will also investigate solutions to product or process problems.  The ideal candidate will demonstrate good judgment combined with technical expertise and will possess an ability to communicate effectively to team members from different disciplines.

Job Responsibilities

  • Support and participate in technical mechanical engineering activities
  • Responsible for completion of assigned task on time and meeting technical requirements
  • Work closely with an engineering team to conceptualize systems and mechanical designs.
  • Perform both system-level and component-level design and integration tasks involving mechanical and electro-mechanical component-level tasks which include determining block diagram, detailed design and 3D modeling, simulation, debug & test
  • Perform the design, development, modification, analysis, and documentation of various mechanical systems
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose malfunctions in existing products or systems and design corrective modifications as needed
  • Develop custom fixtures for test, evaluation and manufacturing of mechanical equipment.
  • Provide progress status for mechanical design assignments periodically
  • Participate in resolution of technical issues within the company and outside suppliers.
  • Communicate clearly (written and oral) with other company personnel and the customers as required
  • Conduct root-cause failure analyses of electro-mechanical components
  • Use computer aided design tools to create and update integrated 3D CAD/CAM/CAE mechanical modeling and drawing solutions.
  • Ability to work independently under supervision of others.
  • Attend and participate in appropriate engineering, customer or business meetings
  • Support, communicate, reinforce and defend the mission, values and culture of the organization

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical field
  • Preferred to have relevant internship experience
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills, written and verbal
  • Experience with 3D modeling software such as Pro/Engineer, SolidWorks, CREO, Unigraphics, etc.
  • Ability to read and understand commercial and/or military mechanical drawings
  • Experience using Microsoft Office tools
