Job Summary

Leonardo DRS Land Systems is seeking a full time Software Engineering Manager who will be responsible for supervising a team of 10-15 software engineers and software contract engineers, enforcing and improving software processes, and setting and implementing the group’s strategic direction.   The software group is responsible for the design, development, analysis, documentation, integration, and test of all software products, systems, and subsystems on time and within budget.  Applicants must also have the ability to complete technical projects independently as well as mentor and/or coach other engineers.

Job Responsibilities

  • Involved with the design, development, analysis, and testing of computer software applications and/or systems.  Familiarity with Real-time, Firmware, Operator/Machine Interface, or others.  Interact with stakeholders to define system requirements and/or necessary modifications.
  • Responsible for managing a team of engineers on complex activities and completion on time and budget
  • Ability to manage a technical group independently
  • Manage budget, cost and schedule input for design assignments
  • Drive the program design to cost and design for manufacture requirements
  • Communicate clearly (written and oral) with other company personnel and the customer as required
  • Participate in preparation of proposals and basis of estimates
  • Manage and direct the work of others as assigned
  • Support, communicate, reinforce and defend the mission, values and culture of the organization
  • Attend appropriate engineering, customer or business meetings
  • Manage/supervise a team of engineers

Job Responsibilities Part II


  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical field with a minimum of 7+ years of experience
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills, written and verbal
  • Experience with software development tools (compilers, configuration control, test tools, etc.)
  • Experience with understanding and generating commercial and/or military software
  • Experience using Microsoft Office tools
  • Familiarity with Real-time, Firmware, Operator/Machine Interface, or others.
