Job Summary

Leonardo DRS Land Systems is seeking a Summer Finance Intern for our Bridgeton, MO facility to perform professional Finance work of an introductory nature in preparation for career advancement.  This role will provide hands-on experience supporting the Finance team in areas such as program finance, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and data validation.  The intern will assist with reporting, special projects, and cross-functional teamwork while gaining hands-on exposure to finance processes in a professional environment.  The purpose of the internship is to provide meaningful professional hands-on experience to students with proven academic performance and leadership potential.  Students will also get to utilize our company’s flexible work schedule.

Job Responsibilities

  • Support the Finance team with entry-level financial analysis and modeling, with duties increasing in complexity over the course of the internship
  • Assist with the preparation of recurring financial reports and supporting analysis using Excel and other business systems
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and month-end close activities as assigned in accordance with established financial policies and compliance standards
  • Assist in researching variances, reconciling data, and identifying discrepancies in financial information
  • Prepare spreadsheets, presentations, and supporting documentation for finance projects and management review to support decision making
  • Participate in meetings with assigned mentor, finance team members, and cross-functional business partners to gain exposure to business operations and financial processes
  • Support special projects related to cost analysis, reporting improvements, data cleanup, or process documentation
  • Learn and apply company financial processes, internal controls, and standard business practices
  • Maintain professionalism in verbal, written, and in-person communication
  • Adhere to procedures relating to the proper use and care of equipment and materials
  • Support, communicate, reinforce and defend the mission, values and culture of the organization

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED, and working on Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business or related technical field
  • Ability to communicate successfully orally and in writing
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and work effectively in a team environment
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Eagerness to learn and take initiative in a professional setting
  • Ability to efficiently utilize standard office software and computer equipment
  • Knowledgeable in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint

The salary range for this position is $32,045.00/year- $40,056.00/year.  This range reflects the good faith estimate of pay the employer is willing to offer at the time of posting. Several factors can influence the pay scale, including but not limited to: Federal contract labor categories and contract wage rates, collective bargaining agreements, geographic location, business considerations, scope, and responsibilities of the position, local or other applicable market conditions, and internal equity. Other factors include the candidate’s qualifications such as prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, education/training, and certifications. In addition to base pay, employees may be eligible for: annual performance-based bonuses, equity awards, and overtime pay (for non-exempt employees as applicable.
