Senior ILS Engineer

Job Summary

Reporting to the Manager, Engineering the ILS Engineer supports logistics, product support, and reliability activities throughout the program lifecycle, including analyzing engineering changes, coordinating spares and technical data, preparing estimates, and performing FMECA analyses. This role also develops training and publication source materials, supports obsolescence and lifecycle management, ensures compliance with logistics requirements, and contributes to proposals, reporting, and process improvement.

As the Senior ILS Engineer, your main responsibilities will include (but not limited to)

  • Analyze engineering change documentation to determine applicability and scope of effort on logistics support activities
  • Coordinate logistic support program activities in the areas of spares, technical data, field and in-house modification programs as requested
  • Finalize and/or generate requested task/man-hour estimates for review and approval
  • Conduct Failure, Mode, Effects, and Criticality Anlsysis and prepare reports using parts count and parts stress methods
  • Prepare training material for all levels of maintenance and operator training
  • Prepare source data for technical publications
  • Prepare Recommended Spares Parts Lists and support equipment lists
  • Work with customers to provide technical data packages to support various contracts (including MTBF calculations, part life cycle management, and test data records)
  • Work with engineering to support obsolescence management
  • Provide regular status and progress reporting to management
  • Update existing or prepare new procedures to document processes
  • Support bid and proposal efforts with preparation of technical input and estimates for ILS, product support and reliability areas
  • Work with, and in some cases coordinate, a team of engineers and technicians to complete a project or projects
  • Ensure compliance with all project logistics requirements
  • Support, communicate, reinforce, and defend the mission, values, and culture of the organization

What you will require to be successful in the role:

  • A degree in engineering from a recognized post-secondary institution or equivalent years of experience.
  • A minimum of five (5) years’ experience in integrated logistic support
  • Experience in developing ILS and LSA plans
  • Knowledge of DND LCMM and Supply Support processes would be an asset
  • Knowledge or familiarity with the creation and maintenance of technical manuals would be an asset
  • Effective technical report writing skills including collecting, organizing, analyzing, and interpreting data for varied audiences
  • Strong problem-solving skills for independent studies, analyses, interpretations, and conclusions 
  • Ability to manage multiple technical assignments 
  • Highly effective customer service & communications skills 
  • Proven team player in a multifunctional and changing technical environment 
  • Proficiency with MS Word, MS Excel & PowerPoint as a minimum
