Program Financial Analyst

Job Summary

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Program Finance the Program Finance Analyst will analyze, plan and understand the company’s financial position, support baseline planning and actual cost verification as well as prepare estimate at completion (EAC). This role is responsible to produce variance analysis, manpower projections, revenue and profit forecasting. They will provide general support to the Program Manager and Program Team with business and financial analysis and produce financial reports for site management. This role reports in-office, and could be based at either our Bedford, NS or Kanata, ON locations.

As Program Finance Analyst, your main responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):

  • Provide support of the Financial & Program Analysis management functions to the department
  • Process and help prepare program bookings, revenue, operating profit, investment and cash flow data
  • Understand how job costs are collected and billed on all contract types
  • Establish, develop and maintain effective business relationships with internal and external customers
  • Support negotiations with the government, industry prime contractors and foreign customers
  • Conduct difficult analytical studies, monitor trends and be able to accurately interpret the results
  • Support of government compliance and audit activities
  • Program Finance functions including forecasting, Basis of Estimate (BOE) preparation, risk and opportunity management, cash management/working capital, budget preparation, variance analysis, Estimation at Completion (EAC), Basis of Estimate preparation, Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS), contractual reporting, return on investment, audit preparation and program review preparation
  • Manage internal and external financial reporting, analysis of results and associated impact to programs and LOB

What you require to be successful in the role:

  • Understand advanced financial analysis principles and have financial analysis skills
  • Support, communicate, reinforce and defend the mission, values and culture of the organization
  • Experience with ERP systems (Costpoint)
  • Possession of bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting or related field from a recognized post secondary institution or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • A minimum of 5 years experience in program finance
  • Understanding of accounting principles and working knowledge of the Cost Accounting Standards, Sarbanes-Oxley, and International Financial Reporting Standards
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to interact effectively at all levels and across diverse cultures
  • Must follow company policies
  • Ability to work well in a team environment
