Production Planning Support

Job Summary

The Planning Support role will perform a variety of tactical duties to support the Production Planning team with planning activities.

As Planning Support, your main responsibilities will include (but not limited to):

  • Release, and complete work orders, issue sub-assemblies to next level
  • Track material and work orders, non-conformances, rework on the production floor
  • Maintain and prepare WIP status reports for Production Planners
  • Develop/maintain MRP, and create requisitions for common stock
  • Maintain MRP and create requisitions for chemical inventory, track usage and ensure expired chemicals are dispositioned
  • Track material from requisition to receipt of goods and prepare material status reports
  • Attend material/production review meetings
  • Interface with Planning, Production, Quality, and Manufacturing Engineering 
  • Support the Production Planners with other duties as assigned
    • Raise work orders
    • Reschedule work orders due to schedule/material changes
    • Support implementing Engineering Change Orders in WIP

What you require to be successful in the role:

  • Completed Business Administration or Supply Chain and Operations Management program at a recognized post-secondary institution.  
  • Planning experience in a manufacturing environment 
  • Thorough knowledge of MRP is essential 
  • Active involvement in or completion of APICS CPIM certification would be considered an asset 
  • Understand and apply knowledge of product structures, configuration control, contracts terminology and ISO procedures 
  • Highly effective organization and planning skills
  • Understanding of business processes and functional inter-relationships
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines
  • Problem solving skills and analytical skills. 
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills (written & verbal)
  • Self-motivated (works independently)
  • Works effectively with teams and facilitates interaction
  • Maintains positive working relationships with other team members
  • Excellent time management skills and able to prioritize and meet work schedules
