Job Summary

Job Responsibilities

  • Perform business and systems analysis of moderate complexity on the overall product delivery and transportation process
  • Lead the transportation activity of the integrated supply chain
  • Identify and recommend process changes which facilitate freight savings, instill material efficiencies, improve on-delivery performance and/or enhance the overall customer service experience for our internal and external customers
  • Manage routine activity such as:  invoicing, e-bills, duty allocation and validation, assists Customs issues
  • Trace shipments, coordinate cross docks, manage UPS program, oversee origin billing with vendors, manage consolidation program, and manage global freight quotes for RFPs for freight contracts
  • Track supply chain activities and use independent judgment to proactively analyze needs, cost and impact of solutions and make recommendations to maximize transportation efficiency at minimum expense
  • Communicate and counsel internal and external customers, as required, relative to general transport policy
  • Tracks and locates inbound and outbound cargo
  • Facilitate daily freight movement and manage day-to-day traffic issues
  • Provide personal “door-to-door” support on expedited and critical shipments as requested
  • Provide trouble-shooting and problem resolution as requested
  • Assemble support documentation and file freight claims with service providers and develop reporting tools to track resolution and recovery
  • Review and approve freight bills based on negotiated contracts, ensuring accurate and correct payments
  • Analyze and recommend transportation service providers based on review of trade lanes
  • Maintain, make recommendations, and implement changes to the company tariff rules and enter changes in ERP system
  • Proactively monitor and manage key performance indicators and execute root cause analysis
  • Provide all support function activity, including accuracy and timeliness of data processing, reporting, analysis, and all other inquiries
  • Support, communicate and defend the mission, values and culture of the company
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or directed in order to meet the goals and objectives of the department
  • Initiate and establish LTL carrier agreements
  • Compile and analyze volumetric data, identify patterns, forecast changes
  • Identify methods to automate freight payment
  • Team with buyers and suppliers to develop activities that support changing market demands
  • Participate in Six Sigma activities as Subject Matter Expert
  • Initiate ''what-if'' analyses and modeling projects to determine opportunities for savings and increase in customer service and on-time delivery performance
  • Participate in cross-functional teams to promote organized teamwork and inter-departmental cooperation
     

Job Responsibilities Part II

Qualifications

  • BS or BA degree (preferably in logistics/supply chain); any related professional certification, or equivalent work experience
  • 2+ years experience in logistics, transportation, finance or supply chain disciplines
  • Solid understanding of business contracts, National Motor Freight Classification/Fast Class Programs, United States and Canadian rate bureau concepts and formats
  • Excellent understand of LTL trucking data and business trends, including FedEx, DHL and UPS zone based knowledge
  • International Freight experience as well as customs and documentation procedures
  • Technical skills requiring industry wide, multi-modal transportation knowledge
  • Experience with Oracle or other major ERP
  • Requires proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Map Point, PowerPoint, MS Outlook, Adobe Acrobat, and other electronic communication programs, including use of or conversion between various file formats
  • Possess good time management skills and the ability to multi-task and support multiple initiatives at once with a high amount of productivity and efficiency
  • Ability to execute assigned tasks with limited instruction, and provide task status and ask for help when needed
  • Ability to identify various project reporting requirements, extract data from all needed sources and compile and format into actionable data presentations
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written 
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Aptitude to gain further competency in Statistical and/or Transportation Analysis tools (Minitab)
