The Leonardo DRS Tactical Systems team develops secure communications and intelligence, information, cyber, electronic warfare and space (I2CEWS) technologies for airborne, shipboard, ground, man-portable, and space applications.  We are the world leader in Intelligence Broadcast System (IBS) based software defined radios and terminals for over 20 years and Link-11 data terminal sets and Link-22 signal processing controllers for over 40 years.  We produce the highest performance electronic warfare systems on the market ranging from ultra-low size, weight, and power man-portable systems to fully networked, multi-site fixed and mobile electronic support and electronic attack systems.  Our systems use state of the art software defined radio, cryptographic, and machine learning technologies developed, integrated, and produced by our team. Job Summary

We're looking for an entry level Systems Engineer with previous experience with or knowledge of Radio Frequency (RF) and digital signal processing.  Great opportunity to gain entry into a leading defense company and be mentored by experts in the field.  This will be based out of our Beavercreek, OH office with some remote flexibility plus we work a 9/80 schedule (every other Friday off)! 

Job Responsibilities

  • Involved with the analysis, design, development and implementation of new and/or existing systems/sub-systems which may include Architectural Design, Requirements Engineering, or others
  • Determine system specifications
  • Support acquisition of hardware and software (or subcontractor services as needed)
  • Support and participate in technical activity
  • Design, develop, analyze, document and support testing of products, systems or subsystems 
  • May use computer-aided engineering or other design/analysis software in the performance of assignments 
  • Ability to work independently under supervision of others
  • Provide regular reporting of progress and status
  • Responsible for completion of assigned task on time and meeting technical requirements
  • Review customer specifications and requirements, and under direction, develop designs to best support them, including cost as a key design variable 
  • Specify and evaluate supplier components, subsystems and services
  • Support the program design to cost and design for manufacture requirements
  • Develop prototypes to retire key development risks as directed
  • Communicate clearly (written and oral) with other company personnel and the customer as required
  • May participate in preparation of less complex proposals
  • May attend appropriate engineering, customer or business meetings
  • Support, communicate, reinforce and defend the mission, values and culture of the organization

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical, systems, or computer engineering or related technical field
  • Previous internship experience a plus
  • Experience with or exposure to RF and/or digital signal processing a plus
  • Ability to obtain and retain a Secret security clearance is required (current clearance preferred)
  • *This position has the option of being either fully onsite in our Beavercreek, OH office or partly remote (onsite Tues-Thurs).  Must live within commuting distance of the designated facility regardless of choice.
